After raising three daughters with her husband, Dr. Buddy Biggers, she entered graduate school at age 50 to study Clinical Psychology. She had already spent three years in Jungian analysis and was drawn to work that helped people understand the deeper structure of their emotional lives.
She attended Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California, commuting from Asheville monthly for intensive study across five years. She earned both a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.
